Off the very first ball of the day, Northeast prods at Langridge. A leading edge flies to Ahmed at gully and Kent are two down.

Looks like Hammond is still keeping wicket - he took a couple of exceptionally difficult legside takes last night. According to Ollie Price, he has kept wicket in pre-season, but never in a first-class fixture.

Langridge is going to open from the Nackington Road End, Northeast to face.

The sun is out and it looks like this will be the best day for batting out of the four.

Given Northant's first innings collapse yesterday, Kent only need 15 points to secure promotion. They have three in the bag already. If, and it's a pretty big if, they can get to 400, they could draw this game and still get promoted.

Any kind of win will do now and that might be the more realistic option. We'll be underway in 10 minutes time. Kent were looking very alpha in the warm-up, while Gloucestershire, who don't have a lot to play for, were having a more subdued game of football near the southern bank.
