Absolutely no one at Kent had a bad word to say about Mikey Cohen, but equally absolutely no one was surprised when it was announced on Monday that he was leaving the club, after three injury-hit seasons.
When he was signed from Derbyshire ahead of the 2024 season, Kent felt he had the potential to make a real impact as a genuinely quick left hander, but he didn't bowl a ball all year due to a stress fracture in his back. He spent the year working as an analyst, only to get injured again before the 2025 campaign.
Wen he did get fit he made a sensational debut against Sussex in the Metro Bank Cup at Arundel, where he took 4-65, including a wicket with his second ball, but he spent most of 2026 confined to the 2nd XI. He played just two first-class matches this year, taking four wickets.
