Ekansh in, Dawkins left out of Lions squad

All-rounder heads for Caribbean, but opener misses out

Ekansh Singh has been selected for the England Lions’ white-ball tour of the Caribbean in November, although his Kent team mate Ben Dawkins misses out.

Both players appeared for the Lions earlier this summer, but while Ekansh enjoyed a breakthrough season with bat and ball, Dawkins struggled for form after a sensational innings against Durham in the County Championship at Beckenham, when he hit a high-class attack 180.

He also made 118 for England’s U19s in an eight-wicket win over South Africa at Northampton, but was controversially given out to a catch wicketkeeeper Joshua van Biljon clearly dropped in the subsequent U19 test match at Beckenham, and he struggled in the Metro Bank Cup, averaging just 9.57 across seven appearances.
