Kent 352 v Derbyshire 24-0.
Mutually assured pessimism was the order of the day before the start of play on day one. The wicket was kermit-like and after winning the toss and choosing to bowl, members of Derbyshire’s crew entourage were confidently predicting a Zak Crawley century, while Kent fans were … well, Kent fans.
The electronic scoreboard was completely out of action for the entire day, flickering a couple of few times but never quite coming to life. Happily the manual board on top of the Ames Stand was still working and the operatives were kept busy ...
