Selvey-Clinton fits the bill

Kent batter makes Young Lions squad for Sri Lanka & Pakistan

Kent's Leo Selvey-Clinton has been selected for the England U19 Young Lions tours of Sri Lanka & Pakistan.

The 17-year-old made history earlier this year when he became the youngest ever player to score a century on debut for England's U19 side, hitting 107 against Pakistan at Arundel.

Selvey-Clinton has made three appearances for the Young Lions and seven for Kent's 2nd XI. One of his coaches on the tours, which begin at the end of November, will be the recently retired Joe Denly.

A right-hander who also bowls off-spin, Selvey-Clinton could potentially be the latest in a long line of professional cricketers from Farnborough: Paul Downton, Alan Igglesden, Neil Taylor, Lydia Greenway and Alex Blake all went on to play for Kent, while England opener Ben Duckett was also born there.
