To the surprise of absolutely no one, Emilio Gay scored the first red-ball century of 2026, against his favourite opponents. Gay scored his maiden first class century, for Northants, when he made 101 in a draw at Canterbury in 2021 and he carried his bat to make an unbeaten 119, from 110 balls, at Beckenham last year, when Durham beat Kent by seven wickets in the Metro Bank Cup.
