Is Matt Milnes the new Matt Milnes? When Kent lost him to Yorkshire at the end of 2022, they spent the next three years looking for someone to replace him. In 2025 they gave up and decided the easiest thing to do was just bring him back.

On Monday he produced something Kent fans haven’t seen in a long time at the St. Lawrence – a match-winning spell of bowling. Milnes returned outstanding figures of six for 12, including the key wicket of Caleb Jewell with the final ball on day three, just when it looked as though Derbyshire were going to survive the final 11 overs of the day unscathed.
