TAYLOR SIGNS

Last week the Mail reported James Taylor was signing for Kent on loan ahead of the Derbyshire game. That was premature, as an injury crisis (or what passes for an injury crisis at Surrey) stalled the move. At 4pm today it was announced the deal had been revived. Taylor is part of what is now a 13-man squad and Director of Cricket Simon Cook says he "provides us with greater depth and flexibility in our seam bowling ranks".

Taylor has played 16 first-class matches, taking 29 wickets at an average of 40.86 with a career best of 3-19. He averages 15.33 with the bat and has a high-score of 31. He took 2-79 in Surrey's season-opener with Warwickshire at Edgbaston but hasn't played since - he was left out of XI for their most recent game with Sussex.
