Kent 178 and 320-8 lead Lancashire 87, by 411 runs.
When Kent’s coaching staff prepared their best-case scenarios for day two, the idea of a 411-run lead at stumps would have seemed fantastical, but a flawless bowling display, coupled with two huge knocks from Harry Finch and Chris Benjamin now make them overwhelming favourites.
Keith Dudgeon did the bulk of the initial damage, taking 6-32, but the debutant Hasan Mahmud chipped in with 3-32 and Matt Milnes, who took the other wicket, contributed to a pressure-cooked atmosphere that saw Lancashire fall apart.
