It's approximately 5,000 miles between Fort Worth and Canterbury, but in an extreme example of the butterly effect, an event that took place in Texas may have done significant damage to Kent's Blast hopes.
Earlier this week the South African fast bowler Nandre Burger was ruled out of the Major League Cricket tournament after a scan revealed a pre-existing stress reaction in his back. Burger had bowled for the Texas Super Kings against the Seattle Orcas and the San Francisco Unicorns, but he was unable to play in Sunday's eight-wicket defeat to MI New York, or the 22-run win over the Unicorns on Wednesday night
