Graham Gooch had a plan when England's batters were struggling: he'd blame the bowlers. It's a surprisingly popular tactic. In 2023, when Surrey chased down 501 at Canterbury, a Kent fan tried to convince me it was all Hamid Qadri's fault for only making 72 in the second innings, while batting at eight.
Kent's batters are collectively struggling and while there's no blame flying around, it's still the bowlers who are more likely to be shuffled ahead of tomorrow's final game of the season with Gloucestershire. A 14-man squad has been named, with the only change to the 15 for the Lancashire game the omission of Jas Singh.
