Something’s afoot in the Garden of England. Two wins in two games, and now two loan signings who are, by all accounts, thrilled to be here - which isn’t always a given.

Less than 24 hours after a delighted James Taylor starred in the two-wicket win over Gloucestershire, on Tuesday morning Kent announced the signing of Jake Lintott on loan from Warwickshire until the end of the Vitality Blast.

The first sign that this wasn’t your standard loan deal came when the player himself posted that he was “over the moon” to be joining Kent and that he couldn’t wait to get going. The second was that the response from Warwickshire fans was universally negative (or at least regretful. Perhaps they should turn off the comments?)

The 33-year-old, a specialist left-handed wrist spinner, will be available in all formats, meaning he may come into the squad for this Friday’s four-dayer with Durham at Beckenham, although he’s only made three first-class appearances and hasn’t played in the championship since May 2024.
