Bell-Drummond reflects on a lucky escape against Northants

Last year, Daniel Bell-Drummond lost his cool for about a nano-second. It was day three of Kent’s game with Glamorgan at Cardiff and he was on 22. The deficit was down to 10 and Kent had eight second innings wickets remaining when Ned Leonard bowled a bouncer.
Bell-Drummond tried to pull it to the leg side but it reared up and hit him on the helmet. The keeper, Alex Horton took the catch, but Leonard’s appeal was half-hearted and he looked almost as embarrassed as he asked the question.
When the finger went up, Bell-Drummond spread his arms and bent his knees slightly. These actions cost Kent eight championship points, for cumulative displays of dissent, the previous offenders having been Matt Parkinson, Kashif Ali and Tawanda Muyeye. It was surprising because the skipper seems to have the highest-boiling point in the squad, but he offered just a hint of exasperation after his side escaped with a rain-affected draw against Northamptonshire on Monday.
"We've got to look forward now and make sure that doesn't happen again ..."
