Kent v Worcestershire Day 2: LIVE!

Worcs 180-6. There's a big appeal against Waite for caught behind but Umpire Adnan isn't interested. Taylor then flashes Dudgeon just wide of the slips. A couple of boundaries follow, Stewart has another appeal turned down and the last ball of the session is driven for four. Worcestershire dominated the first hour and Kent the second ... would say Kent have their noses just in front at lunch.

Cullen lbw Dudgeon 9. Worcs 152-6. Having survived a legside-ish appeal for lbw and nearly played on, Cullen steers Dudgeon for four to bring up the 150, but he's lbw to the last ball of the over, which tbh looked also slightly on leg.

Hose c Benjamin, b Stewart 50. Worcs 145-5.

It's even now ... Hose slashes at Dudgeon and is pouched by Benjamin. Two new batters in and the lead is 93. Matthew Waite is the new batter, which much lead to some confusion when they call in the middle. Poor guy must feel he's getting yelled at all the time.

... could have been an even better over for Kent, but Cullen, on 0, edged Stewart to Dudgeon at fourth/gully and he couldn't hang on. Tough chance.

Hose then whips Dudgeon for four through midwicket to bring up his half-century.

D'Oliveira c Muyeye b Stewart 7. Worcs 139-4.

Stewart replaces Milnes at the PE and immediately gets Dolly, who slashes him to Muyeye at third slip. The lead is 99.

Lategan b Milnes 59, Worcs 125-3.

Milnes with a desperately needed breakthrough for Kent. Lategan leaves one and it bends back his off stump. The new man in is Brett D'Oliveira.

Quinn hits Hose on the pad, may have been hitting middle and leg but it was highish and you can see why Umpire Redfern gave Hose the benefit of the doubt. Milnes switches to the Pavilion End and Lategan takes two to bring up his half-century. Kent haven't bowled badly, but no break through yet.

Change of bowling at the NRE. Quinn is on for Milnes. Two singles and a cut for two by Lategan take Worcestershire to three figures. Aside from the Milnes appeal and a couple of edges that have eluded fielders there haven't been too many alarms.

We're currently in the middle of what might be one of the slowest ball changes of all time. Took so long it actually clouded over while we were waiting. Worcs are 92-2.

Worcs 90-2. Milnes hits Hose on the back pad. Looked like it was hitting, may have pitched outside. Either way, Umpire Redfern is uninterested.

We're underway on Day Two, with Matt Milnes bowling to Lategan. The first delivery is a dot, completing last night's 21st over. Hasan Mahmud opens from the Pavilion End.

DBD said last night that he though if Kent could get two quick wickets this morning and exploit the early start they'd be on top. Conditions are overcast and somehow both muggy and breezy.

ICYMI: Last night's quotes from Daniel Bell-Drummond. “It was a good toss for them to win and with 10.30 starts that’s always going to be the case. We were probably a bit under par with the position we got ourselves in. It was always going to be tough with the new ball, but I think with some of the partnerships and the middle order, we probably could have kicked on and pushed towards 270-280.

“There's definitely opportunities in this wicket. We just need to come back tomorrow and get stuck in and make sure we're as accurate as possible and then when the chances come, take them. It was one of those wickets. There was always a good ball in there. Myself and Benji (Benjamin) got in after the good partnership with Tawanda and Sam. None of us could really kick on, but they were good contributions nonetheless. We felt we were a bit short, but no doubt we'll have a good day tomorrow and the bowlers will start well and we'll stay in this game.

“Hasan is a class performer in general, coming back from the Australia Test matches he's picked up where he's left off. He's got a lot of skill, got good pace, but he can really hurry you up as well and that's what he did with those two wickets.

“I'd say it's pretty even. I think if we get too early tomorrow, they're 100 for forwards, it's a very even game. 10.30 start, the ball's still fresh, so no, we're looking forward to tomorrow. We would have liked to have got a bit more with the bat, but I still think we're in a good position.”
