Kent have restocked the bowling cupboard by resigning all-rounder Bertie Foreman ahead of Thursday’s Rothesay County Championship match with Middlesex at Northwood. Foreman will now be available for the rest of the campaign, having spent three months with the club earlier this season before his short-term deal expired at the end of the Vitality Blast.

Having initially signed in May, he featured in both the Blast win against Sussex, where he took the key wicket of Tom Clark; and the four-day win at Blackpool against Lancashire, where he claimed 2-66 in the second innings.

The 22-year-old gives Kent an extra spin option, following the news that South African overseas player Senuran Muthusamy will not now be coming to Canterbury due to a knee injury: Kent are said to be “actively pursuing” an alternative overseas signing, but bureaucratic complications mean no deal is expected ahead of the Middlesex game.
